In a dramatic incident, the federal police arrested a 58-year-old Pole on Görlitzer Brückenstrasse on Friday afternoon who was wanted on an arrest warrant. The man had ignored a fine of 1,335 euros that had been imposed on him for attempted joint theft with weapons. Since he is insolvent, he now has to serve this amount behind bars.
A day later, the federal police identified another wanted suspect: a 50-year-old Lithuanian who wanted to enter the country via the motorway checkpoint near Görlitz. Surprisingly, a 16-year-old arrest warrant was issued against him for aggravated extortion and aggravated robbery. The Münster regional court sentenced him to six years in prison. After his deportation, it was ordered that he would be arrested if he re-entered the country. He now has to serve 1,035 days of his remaining sentence.
