Bulgarian thief caught at border crossing – faces 120 days in prison!

Yesterday evening, around 7:30 p.m., two Bulgarian citizens were checked by the federal police at the Reitzenhain border crossing. A 46-year-old man was arrested after an open arrest warrant from the Osnabrück public prosecutor's office emerged when his personal details were checked. For a particularly serious case of theft, he was fined 3,681 euros or alternatively given a 120-day prison sentence. Since he could not make the payment on the spot, the man was taken to the correctional facility.

A day earlier, his 51-year-old compatriot was able to pay an outstanding fine of 986 euros that had been imposed on him for driving without a license. After payment he was allowed to continue his journey.
