Power outage in the Colonnade District: What could be the cause
On Monday morning there was a power outage in Leipzig's Kolonnadenviertel, which began at 10:45 a.m. and lasted about an hour. More than 20 residents reported the outage via the website treibsauskunft.de. It was initially unclear how many households were affected by the disruption. Power has now been restored to the affected homes, but the exact cause of the disruption remains unknown. As lvz.de reports, the background to the incident is currently being investigated.
Power outages in Leipzig are not a rare phenomenon this year. According to current statistics, Leipzig residents have already experienced 63 outages in 2025 by this point. This number is not unusual when you look at the default statistics of the last few years. In 2024, Leipzig recorded a total of 138 power outages, which represents a significant increase compared to 115 outages in 2023, according to data from stromstaub.org.
