There was a serious security disruption at Leipzig Central Station last weekend. A 42-year-old man known as a violent offender was arrested by police after sexually harassing and throwing objects at several women. The man, who is already banned from the entire station area, ignored this and committed several shopliftings over the weekend. The situation escalated when he harassed a saleswoman after stealing and threw a tetra pack at an employee in another store, hitting her in the upper body. His behavior was deemed not only sexually harassing but also physically dangerous. He also gave the Hitler salute to federal police officers, which further aggravated the already critical situation. Investigations and legal consequences
In total, more than 50 cases have been ongoing against the 42-year-old German since mid-June. Now there have been 13 new investigations that have been initiated against him for grievous bodily harm, use of license plates of unconstitutional organizations, theft, trespassing and sexual harassment. The police measures sound alarming and underline the urgency with which the authorities must address this concern.
The fact that the man continues his behavior despite his previous history and an existing ban on the house represents a serious threat to the safety of passengers at the main train station. The federal police, who are working closely together in this case, make it clear that all necessary steps will be taken to hold the perpetrator accountable and prevent further incidents.
