Last tickets and camping tips for the WGT 2025 in Leipzig!
The Wave-Gotik-Treffen (WGT) in Leipzig, known as the largest Gothic festival in the world, looks back on an impressive history this year and will once again attract tens of thousands to the city on the Pleiße from June 6th to 9th, 2025. A {{ 20,000}} frequency of around 20,000 visitors is expected, who can look forward to a rich program. The festival offers over 180 concerts and events that include not only music, but also art, literature and a diverse nightlife. For four days, Leipzig becomes a cultural hub for gothic and alternative subcultures.
The WGT, which has been taking place at Pentecost since 1992, extends across various locations in the city and is not only characterized by live concerts. In addition to musical performances, the official program also includes readings, theater performances and art exhibitions. Two medieval markets, one in the Moritzbastei and one at the Dölitz gatehouse, further enrich the festival. In addition, numerous clubs host parties with international DJs covering music styles from the 80s to industrial.
Ticket information and arrival
To take part in the WGT, a ticket is required, which is available for 170 euros and allows access to all official events and use of public transport in Leipzig. Day tickets are not available. Last tickets can be purchased at the box offices on the agra site or at the main train station, as MDR reports. Advance ticket sales usually begin at the beginning of the year, while tickets are shipped in the spring.
Getting to the festival is uncomplicated as public transport in MDV Zone 110 is free for WGT visitors from Friday morning to Tuesday lunchtime. Tram line 11 takes festival participants directly to the agra festival site, stop “Straßenbahnhof Dölitz”. Alternatively, parking options are available, including the WGT parking lot at agra-Park for 20 euros, as well as park & ride parking spaces in the area.
Camping and overnight accommodations
Camping on the agra site is an attractive option for many visitors, but requires an additional “care card” for 50 euros. This also applies to camping with motorhomes, although from this year it is possible to book electricity connections for 150 euros for the entire festival period. However, it is advisable to book accommodation in Leipzig early, as many hotels and apartments in the city are quickly booked out during the WGT. Overnight stays in the city center or near the main train station are recommended.
In addition to the festival atmosphere, the events during WGT provide an open and friendly environment that attracts a diverse audience. Highlights such as the Victorian Picnic and the Medieval Market attract not only passionate Goths, but also families and those interested in exploring the cultural facets of the festival. Temperatures in the city can vary at this time of year, so a varied experience is guaranteed in both outdoor and indoor settings, thanks to the extensive program that goes beyond musical genres.
To enjoy the full WGT experience, it is recommended to take part in unofficial events and tours, which are free. Museums and exhibitions also offer free entry for festival visitors, making the WGT a unique festival experience that combines both a festival and a city trip.
Overall, the Wave-Gotik-Treffen 2025 promises to be an unforgettable event that will attract fans from all over the world and impressively present Leipzig's cultural diversity.
