Leipzig will be the center for Europe's business angels in 2027!

Leipzig is preparing for an important international event: The 27th EBAN Congress will take place in the city from June 21st to 23rd, 2027. Over 500 participants are expected, including investors, companies, founders and political representatives from all over Europe. The focus of the event is on the exchange of ideas, deal flow and networking among participants, which is of great importance for both the city and the regional start-up scene.

The decision to hold the congress in Leipzig came during the EBAN congress in Copenhagen. Leipzig was able to prevail against numerous competitors, including well-known cities such as Paris, Valencia and The Hague. This success underlines the growing importance of Leipzig as a location for innovative events and start-ups.

A strong organizational network

The congress is organized by futureSAX in close collaboration with BAM! Business Angels Central Germany e.V. and Business Angels Germany (BAND) e.V. organized. The event is also supported by the Saxon State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Labor, Energy and Climate Protection. In this way, Saxony announced that it would continue to promote an active environment for investments in early-stage companies.

The European Business Angels Network (EBAN) plays a central role in the organization. As the pan-European representation of the early-stage investor community, EBAN has over 100 member organizations in more than 50 countries and represents over 10,000 business angels from across the region. eban.org describes the organization as a non-profit association that creates important networking opportunities for its members and promotes the exchange of knowledge.

Regional and European significance

Saxony's Economics Minister Dirk Panter emphasizes the importance of the congress for Leipzig and sees the event as an opportunity to make the Saxon innovation ecosystem better known across Europe. Susanne Stump from futureSAX adds that regional start-ups will have the opportunity to present their ideas and make valuable contacts. Isabel Antholz from Business Angels Mitteldeutschland e.V. and Katja Ruhnke from BAND both emphasize the importance of angel investing for the success of young companies in Europe.

The decision to choose Leipzig as the venue is also a sign of the positive developments in the region. The EBAN Congress has not taken place in Germany for over 20 years, which illustrates the relevance and growth of the German and specifically the Saxon start-up scene. Leipzig therefore has the opportunity to distinguish itself not only as a city of founders, but also as a key region for investment and innovation.
