Architecture Experience: Exhibition by Jürgen Meier in Leipzig!

In Leipzig, the exhibition “ARCHITEKT” by the local artist Jürgen Meier will open in the KK5 gallery from December 4, 2025. This exhibition runs until February 28, 2026 and deals with the exciting topic of the relationship between architecture and people. The focus is on the history of the creation of the former Stasi administration building at Matthäikirchhof, which causes mixed feelings among the Leipzig population. The exhibition offers a walk-in archive consisting of paintings, city maps, portraits and 3D installations and illuminates the role of architecture not only as a physical but also as a social structure.

The KK5 gallery, located at Käthe-Kollwitz-Straße 5, is easily accessible via the Thomasiusstraße stop and entry to the exhibition is free. The official opening will take place on December 4, 2025 at 7 p.m. and will present Meier's innovative combination of documentary research and aesthetic staging. This type of presentation allows visitors to grasp the complexity and multifunctional aspects of the architecture.

Symbolism of architecture

The former Stasi administration building represents a contemporary debate about functionality, control and public memory. It presents the challenge of how history is anchored in the urban landscape and what influence it has on the current image of society. Jürgen Meier wants to use his work to create awareness of these topics and at the same time encourage visitors to interact with the objects on display.

The concept of the exhibition reflects the idea that architecture not only defines the physical environment but also has deeper social and psychological effects on people. By combining art and concrete historical contexts, Meier challenges visitors to think about the relationships between space and human experience.

This exhibition is being closely followed by the art scene not only in Leipzig but also beyond. Comparable exhibitions like those in German Architecture Center (DAZ) shown in Berlin also dealt with the interaction between architecture and society. Such events help create broader awareness and increased interest in the architectural themes that shape our cities.

With “ARCHITEKT” Jürgen Meier makes a valuable contribution to the cultural discussion and invites visitors to explore the complex meanings of architecture in a changing society. The combination of historical references and artistic interpretations creates a rich experience that will captivate visitors.
