Jamie Hayter: Injury causes mysterious absence from AEW!

Jamie Hayter, the former AEW Women’s World Champion, is currently out of action due to a legitimate injury. Her last appearance took place on May 25, 2025 during the AEW Double or Nothing event, where she lost to Mercedes Mone in the final of the Owen Hart Foundation Women's Tournament. Following this match, in which she injured herself, she was eliminated from the following edition of AEW Dynamite on May 28, when an attack was staged by new wrestler Thekla to create a storyline reason for her absence. Wrestling Observer Radio reports that Hayter suffered the injury during her match against Mone. This situation was optimized by a staged angle where the lights went out during Thecla's attack, leading to her exclusion and henceforth causing confusion as to her condition.

It is currently unclear when Hayter can return to AEW. The May 28 attack and her absence from recent editions of Dynamite suggest that her return is not imminent. According to Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp, most parts of the attack took place in the dark, creating additional confusion among fans and staff. Sources within the company report that Hayter would be booked when she becomes available, although there is no specific set timetable for her return. However, hopes within the team are optimistic that she will return to the mat soon, as confirmed by Fightful, who were in contact with Hayter after the final of the Owen Hart Tournament and reported that she was doing well.

A look back at her injury history

This isn't the first time Jamie Hayter has been sidelined due to injury. In 2023 she had to take a break for over a year due to a serious back injury and had previously been unable to compete for a few months due to a visa problem. However, such setbacks haven't stopped her from becoming one of the most sought-after wrestlers in AEW.

WrestleTalk sends best wishes for a speedy recovery to Jamie Hayter and hopes for a quick return to the ring to delight their fans once again.
