20 years of the Stella Maris women's choir: holiday magic in Zöbingen!

On July 14, 2025, the Stella Maris women's choir in Zöbingen celebrated its 20th anniversary. On this special day, an exciting program was presented that lasted over four hours and borrowed from the popular television show “Wetten Dass”. Moderated by Quizmaster Heike Fischer and Sigrid Lutz, the guests experienced a varied festival.

The mayor Johannes Joas and the mayor Roland Gloning were available to answer questions about the role of the choir during the celebrations. A highlight was the appearance of several guest choirs, which enriched the evening musically. The men's choir community of Silberdistel Röttingen, the Liederlust Baldern, the men's choir Zöbingen as well as the de Camino choir Hohenberg and the women's choir “Emotional Voices” from Unterriffingen were represented.

Ceremonial performances and honors

The performances were conducted by the respective choir directors, including Ruth Schmid and Alicia Rupprecht. The two main actors, the mayor and the mayor, lost some bets and took over the leadership of the women's choir in a humorous performance. Honors were also given during the celebration: Thekla Schmid received a bouquet of flowers and a wellness voucher, and many singers were recognized for their long-standing membership.

Important personalities in the choir, including the first choir director Ingrid Philipp, the chairwoman Thekla Schmid and the “choir director godfather” Kaspar Grimminger, shared their memories of the past years in the choir. The current choir director, Daniela Hoffmann, has led the choir since 2022, succeeding Ruth Schmid.

Review and outlook of the choir

To celebrate the anniversary, the Stella Maris women's choir also looked back on a successful year. An important highlight was the autumn festival, which took place in September 2022 under the motto “Holiday Greetings”. Here the singers performed in dirndls, which thrilled the visitors. The event included both Bavarian songs and the “Zöbingerlied” by Helga Lybbe.

The choir has distinguished itself in the community with many activities, including hosting the annual meeting of the Eugen-Jaekle Gau in March 2022. On this occasion, Karl Rinn from Unterschneidheim was made a new honorary member. A children's project choir, led by Walburga Ott, created a festive atmosphere at the event with a serenade.

Secretary Walburga Ott reported on the choir's diverse activities, while cashier Roswitha Ladenburger spoke of a pleasing profit. Thekla Schmidt was elected as chairwoman for another three years, and new voluntary tasks were given to Julia Schmidt, who was elected as secretary, as well as to auditor Marianne Kurz and Carolin Bux.

Finally, the women's choir is planning a choir party for its fifth anniversary in May 2023 and an Advent concert is already being planned for December 2023. With a solid foundation and an active community, Stella Maris Zöbingen is optimistic about the future. Special moments and memories from twenty years of choir history connected the participants at the anniversary celebration and made the occasion unforgettable.
