If someone is missing or worried a person, it is recommended to contact the local authorities immediately. Missing people are recorded in databases such as inpol, so that international searches may also be necessary. These central investigative inquiries and coordinations are carried out by the Federal Criminal Police Office to ensure that all options for finding missing persons are exhausted.
The concern for Mycahylo O. is also evident in the high numbers of missing persons in Germany. In 2024, for example, around 18,100 children were reported missing, the overwhelming majority of which could be informed within a short time. Nevertheless, the prospect of successful finding remains in individual cases like this uncertain.
