CFC women fight to lead the table: acid test in Leipzig!
On Sunday, September 14th, the Chemnitzer FC Frauen will meet SSV Stötteritz in the regional league, an exciting duel that kicks off at 3 p.m. in Leipzig. The CFC women got off to a strong start to the season, winning the first two games with impressive 6-0 wins. Their goal is to continue this winning streak and also be successful away from home in order to regain the lead in the table.
Center forward Davina Graf plays a central role in the CFC's ambitions. As the best goalscorer of the last two seasons, she has already scored five goals in the current season and is therefore leading the goalscoring list. Graf emphasizes that for her, the success of the team is more important than personal success. Their commitment will also be crucial in order to be successful against the traditionally strong team from Stötteritz.
The opponent profile: SSV Stötteritz
SSV Stötteritz proved to be unpredictable last season. The team consists of players with experience from higher leagues and can be dangerous on good days. In a previous meeting, the CFC women suffered a narrow defeat, which serves as a warning. Nevertheless, coach Swen Wolf is counting on the CFC women to take control of the game through their own concentrated performance.
Coach Wolf did not focus the preparation for the game specifically on Stötteritz, but rather focused on intensity, speed and determination in training. The motto is to use your own speed and consistently exploit your opportunities.
Looking back at the last encounter
The CFC women also look back on a bitter last league game that took place at the sports facility in Liebertwolkwitz. In this game they initially led 2-0 against SSV Stötteritz thanks to goals from Lina Hertel and Davina Graf. But Stötteritz managed to turn the game around with three standard situations and scored the winning goal in the final minute to make it 3-2. One point would have secured the national championship title for the CFC ladies, but this title now goes to BSG Chemie Leipzig, led by Anja Mittag.
Wolf notes that the team needs to become mentally stronger in crucial games. During the season, despite several convincing victories against opponents such as Heidenauer SV and SV Johannstadt, the CFC women repeatedly suffered unexpected defeats that cost them the lead in the table. Their performance in the upcoming match could be crucial to achieving their goal of promotion to the regional league.
With a goal difference of 96 goals to date, the most in the league, and successful goalscorers such as Davina Graf, Yella Mihalyi and Vanessa Oehmichen, the CFC women have every chance of realizing their ambitions and securing their next away win.
