Aggressive attack on police officer in Leipzig: Woman kicks and beats!
Stötteritz, Deutschland - On Monday evening there was a brutal attack on a policewoman in Stötteritz. The 24-year-old was part of a team of operations that was called for a discussion between a bus driver and a 32-year-old woman around 6:20 p.m. The bus driver then found the woman who was thrown out of the bus to be aggressive, which led to her protest. While the officials tried to determine their personal details, the situation escalated. The aggressive woman kicked the policewoman and hit her in the face with full force. The police officer suffered so serious injuries that she was no longer able to work and had to be treated on an outpatient basis in the hospital.
The Leipzig-Südost police station has started investigations into resistance to enforcement officers and assault. The 32-year-old was brought to a specialist hospital after the incident.
resistance with iron rod
A similar incident occurred on the same night when the police observed another violent examination of the same woman. Witnesses reported that the 32-year-old was beating with an iron bar near Konradstraße and Hermann-Liebmann-Straße. In her resistance to the officials, she injured two police officers aged 23 and 24. They also had to be taken to the hospital and are no longer able to serve for the time being. The police have also initiated investigations into enforcement officers and assault.
The pattern of violence against police officers has become increasingly important in recent years. According to a study by the Federal Center for Political Education , discussions about violence of police officers have increased in the past ten years. In 2018, 38,109 violent acts against police officers were reported. These acts often occur not only at major events, but also in everyday missions.
lawful use of violence and challenges
In Germany there is a state monopoly by violence that allows the police to apply for coercion under certain circumstances. However, this use of violence must always follow a legal basis and be proportionate. The use of violence intervenes in basic human rights, so that illegitimate use of violence by the police is viewed publicly. According to Amnesty International there are numerous critical voices that question the investigative methods and the identifiability of police officers.
The incidents in Stötteritz once again throw a light on the challenges with which the police are confronted, and the increasing willingness to violence that has been observed in the past decade. It will therefore be essential to continue researching this topic intensively and developing suitable prevention strategies.
