Seehausen invests in the future: new containers for childcare!

Seehausen, Deutschland - Today, on July 31, 2025, the school year ends in the Oberland, while in the municipality of Seehausen the preparations for the new school year are in full swing. In order to meet the increasing demand for childcare, the municipality plans to build two new container facilities at the local kindergarten. These containers should offer space for up to 40 children and are intended as a temporary solution to the new kindergarten. The costs for the container plants amount to around 800,000 euros. Radio Oberland reports that the container is intended until late autumn. The municipal council will be advised on the project that evening.

The plans for the container system include a pioneering concept that should ensure the fastest possible provision of childcare places. Mayor Wolfgang Strohmaier explained the framework for the upcoming construction work. The entire process is divided into three phases: interim construction, the demolition of the existing building and the new construction of the new daycare center. Swabian, reported, that the groundbreaking ceremony for interim construction, which will consist of a total of 54 containers, should take place on August 26, 2023.

Details on the new building

The interim of the container project is set up on a meadow next to the net shopping market. The completion of the interim building is planned for March 13, 2026, followed by commissioning on April 14, 2026. On this day, the demolition of the old day care center will also begin. The building site is said to be cleared by June 24, 2026 before the groundbreaking ceremony for the new daycare center is built on July 9, 2026. The children's move into the new facility is planned for April or May 2028. The outdoor area of the container system is designed close to nature and fenced for safety reasons.

The container solution is designed in such a way that it has four rooms for kindergarten children and a room for crib children. Other important infrastructures such as a kitchen, a bathroom/toilet, a meeting room and a common room are also planned. A flexible solution is offered for the catering via the Kitafino app. The mayor was also able to report positive experiences with similar container solutions in Bodolz, which arouses additional hope of successful implementation.
