Shocking moment at Lake Staffelsee: ball python discovered on mailbox!

In Seehausen am Staffelsee, in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district, a one meter long one was recently builtball pythondiscovered on a mailbox at a vacant property. The unusual find caused a stir and attracted the attention of the police and fire department, who were immediately alerted because the owner of the animal could not be identified. The snake, which had settled comfortably there, was a nuisance for the local resident and was safely caught before being taken to a reptile sanctuary in Munich, like the one Augsburger Allgemeine reported.

The origin of the python is still unclear. It is believed that she either escaped from her terrarium or was intentionally released. Ball pythons are popular pets that are generally considered peaceful and non-venomous. In their homeland in West and Central Africa, they feed on mice, rats or small birds, which they capture in the thick grass and then devour. The snake species usually reaches a length of one to one and a half meters and is characterized by its distinctive brown-black coloring with light brown or yellow patterns, such as Northern Bavaria supplemented.

Investigations are ongoing

The police have started an investigation to find the owner of the snake. Particular attention is paid to information from the public. Animal lovers and residents in the area are asked to provide their information. It is not the first time that pythons have been discovered in the wild in Germany. Last year, for example, two pythons in Augsburg's Siebentischwald found their way into the news; one of them was even two meters long.

Ball pythons have proven to be adaptable animals that often thrive in captivity when kept appropriately. Nevertheless, reports of abandoned or escaped specimens continue to be heard, and the authorities appeal to the population not to allow such animals to be taken into custody.
