New seminar in Hanover: Focus on marketing standards for fruit and vegetables!
The Lower Saxony Chamber of Agriculture (LWK) will offer a new seminar format on October 8th and 9th, 2025 in Hanover-Ahlem. The aim of this two-day seminar is to provide participants with comprehensive information about the new legal marketing standards for fresh fruit and vegetables. The focus is particularly on pome fruits, such as apples and pears, as well as winter vegetables, including carrots, root and tuber vegetables, cabbage and onions, such as Gabot.de reported.
The seminar is aimed at career starters as well as experienced specialists in the areas of quality control, purchasing, sales, quality management, and branch and team management. In a combination of presentations and interactive group work, participants will learn the structure, content and scope of the new marketing standards. Practical exercises for assessing product samples according to these standards are also part of the program. The exchange with experienced speakers and other participants offers interesting insights into practice LWK Lower Saxony added.
Background of the changes
The introduction of these new marketing standards will take effect on January 1, 2025 and will replace the previous regulations for the marketing of fresh fruit and vegetables. The main objectives of the new standards are to ensure the quality and safety of food, protect consumers and facilitate trade. The responsibility for compliance with these standards lies with everyone who offers or markets fresh fruit and vegetables.
There are specific requirements for eleven market-leading types of fruit and vegetables, which are set out in special marketing standards. In addition to apples and pears, these top-selling species include bananas (green and unripe), strawberries, sweet peppers, kiwis, peaches, nectarines, salads (krasue endive, escarole), table grapes, tomatoes and citrus fruits. The new regulations are intended to be adapted to the conditions of the market and are therefore highly relevant for everyone involved in order to avoid incorrect sales and quality defects.
Seminar participants also receive a seminar certificate and can look forward to comprehensive catering, which includes lunch, cold and hot drinks and snacks during breaks. This not only ensures a pleasant atmosphere, but also promotes exchange among the participants.
Anyone interested in the seminar has the opportunity to register early in order to benefit from this unique offer and to prepare comprehensively for the new challenges of marketing.
