Heat alarm in Stendal: German Weather Service warns of extreme heat!

Today, June 23, 2025, parts of Germany are experiencing an intense change in the weather. The German Weather Service (DWD) provides information about comprehensive warnings that are divided into different levels. The current warning situation ranges from general weather warnings to significant weather events to extreme severe weather warnings. Heat and UV exposure in particular are highlighted as serious risks, as MDR explains in detail.

The mandatory warning levels are clearly defined: Level 1 includes general weather warnings, while Level 2 represents warnings about severe weather. Level 3 is reserved for severe weather warnings and the highest level, Level 4, is for extreme weather warnings. In addition, there are specific warnings that alert people to heat and extreme heat, as well as UV warnings that are particularly relevant for outdoor activities.

Forecast of the next few days

According to the current weather forecast issued at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, windy to stormy conditions are expected in some locations until Wednesday, June 25, 2025. Significant gusts of strength 8 to 9 could occur on the coasts and in the mountains on Tuesday, as Weather Service reports. A few stormy gusts are also expected for the Baltic Sea region on Wednesday.

On Thursday night there is a possibility of a larger thunderstorm cluster that could move from France to the west and southwest. This could be combined with heavy rain and potentially severe squalls. While Thursday is expected to bring a freshening westerly wind, stiff gusts and sometimes stormy gusts can be expected in the southern half of Germany and in the mountains.

Outlook for the coming week

The forecasts for Friday do not show any significant weather risks for the time being. But over the weekend, until June 29, 2025, increasing heat loads are expected in the southern half of Germany. The next update of the weather situation is planned for this evening at 9:00 p.m. at the latest in order to inform the public promptly about the developments.

The list of warning levels and specific weather warnings underlines the importance of being attentive to the current weather conditions in Germany. Citizens are encouraged to heed the DWD's warnings and take appropriate precautionary measures to protect themselves and others.
