Construction of the A14: Soon liquid traffic on the new Elbe bridge!

Seehausen, Deutschland - The construction work on the A14 between Wittenberge and Seehausen-Nord continues to take shape. On the occasion of an information event at DEGES on June 12, 2025, current developments by the largest new construction project in Germany were announced, whose total costs amount to around 2.3 billion euros. The new, 11 -kilometer section is to be partially opened by mid -2026, while the complete passability of the A14 is expected by the end of 2027. SVZ reports .

A significant innovation in this context is the construction of a new Elbe bridge that reached the bank in Saxony-Anhalt at the end of April 2025. This 412 meter long steel structure will be 31 meters wide and is estimated at costs of 182 million euros. After the opening of the highway, the old Elbbrücke is demolished and rebuilt, which should further improve the transport infrastructure in the region. Deges informed .

traffic and construction projects

Currently, the B189 lanes are narrowed in the Altmark, and traffic light regulations with a speed limit of 50 km/h apply. In addition, the access to the B195 towards Cumlosen and since April has been blocked due to the construction of a roundabout. Deges project manager Silke Kinner announced, however, that this block should be lifted again from August 2025, which facilitates the access to the region.

For the detour of the traffic on the B189, a makeshift lane is set up towards Elbbrücke. A new roundabout will also be completed by the end of the year at the Crow's Pieces / Beginenweg intersection. All of this is used for better traffic routing and the minimization of the detours that many residents complain about, some of which have to accept up to 30 kilometers longer travel to Wittenberge. Deges therefore checks the planned traffic routing due to various inquiries from residents.

costs and participation

Around 150 construction workers are involved in the construction work, which are installed a total of around 2.1 million cubic meters of soil. The cost of the A14 section between Wittenberge and Seehausen-Nord amounts to around 513 million euros. With these measures, the transport connection in the region is to be improved sustainably and designed in a future -proof manner.
