Shock in Schönefeld-Ost: Teenager on e-scooter injured in accident!

In a tragic incident in Leipzig, more precisely in the Schönefeld-Ost district, an accident occurred this afternoon that affected three young people and an 18-year-old driver. According to the LVZ The accident was reported around 2 p.m. on Volksgartenstrasse, near Poserstrasse, when the driver was driving an Opel north and hit an e-scooter.

The 16-year-old driver of the e-scooter, who was on the scooter with a 15-year-old passenger, apparently crossed the street on a pedestrian path and was struck by the young driver's car. During the impact, both teenagers fell and suffered injuries that required hospitalization. This is also reported by the Day24.

Injuries and property damage

The two injured teenagers were immediately taken to a hospital. The 18-year-old driver also had to go to a clinic after the accident because she had suffered shock. The material damage is estimated at around 3,000 euros, which indicates the damage to the vehicle and the e-scooter.

It is noteworthy that the 15-year-old passenger violated the law by riding as a pillion passenger on the e-scooter. This behavior is not allowed in Germany because only one person is allowed to ride an e-scooter at the same time. This regulation is intended to contribute to safety on the road, especially when using electric scooters.

Police will continue to investigate the exact nature of the accident to determine whether there will be any further legal consequences for those involved. Road safety remains a key issue, particularly with the increasing number of e-scooters in urban areas.
