On June 5, 2025, the St. Stephanus kindergarten in Schönau not only celebrated the inauguration of a new expansion, but also its 50th anniversary. This double occasion was duly celebrated with a festive event that appealed to both children and adults. The day began with a communal service in the parish church of St. Stephanus, where Pastor Rupert Wimmer warmly welcomed the numerous visitors to the packed church and opened the celebration.
The head of the daycare center, Linda Thünemann, was pleased to welcome numerous guests to the daycare center's new outdoor area. Among the guests of honor were parents, siblings, acquaintances and relatives who got in the mood for the celebrations together. A festive program for young and old
The children of the kindergarten sang the song “The festival will be beautiful” to welcome the guests of honor. Children and families had a lot of fun during the festival, which took place in sunny weather. Deputy Mayor Resi Gerwing also brought greetings from the city of Beckum and congratulated the kindergarten team on their 50th birthday.
Nicole Scheufens-Künne, head of the association, and Anne Pösentrup from the church council and parish council were also particularly well-wishers. Together with Deacon Markus Wibbeke, she led the liturgy of the word and thus contributed to the celebratory event that not only honored the past, but also focused on the future of the institution.
