The construction of this project is financed by the municipality of Schönau am Königssee and 1.25 million euros by the Watzmann Nature company. A remarkable point is that 25 percent of the costs, i.e. 300,000 euros, were raised by successful crowdfunding, in which shares were bought within just three days, mainly by citizens of the district. The repayment takes place with interest. Mayor Hannes Rasp emphasizes the importance of this project for the region and sees it a sustainable solution to the mobility of the future.

The system will also offer the possibility of installing loading points at other covered parking spaces, which will increase the attractiveness for electric vehicles. Before commissioning the new carports, ten charging points have already been installed at the parking lot, with another ten in planning. The carports themselves will consist of five double and a single series that use a total of 4700 square meters of roof area.
