Refurbishment of the Kulturfabrik Werk 2 in Leipzig starts on July 1, 2025!

From July 1, 2025, comprehensive renovation work begins in the cultural factory "Werk 2" in Leipzig. This measure is expected to take two years and should serve, among other things, the fire protection and the remedy of structural defects. The total costs of the renovation amount to around 2.7 million euros, which are financed from a city council application entitled "Werk 2 - further renovation". The aim is to modernize the industrial cultural center in accordance with the current building regulations.

Numerous basic measures are carried out as part of the renovation. This includes the renewal of the fire alarm systems and the improvement of the escape route situation through the installation of new escape routes. In addition, legally required fire sections are set up, and barrier -free toilets for visitors to Halle D and the outdoor area are created. In order to take into account the listed industrial architecture, care is taken to ensure that the structural changes are in accordance with the historical heritage.

Despite the extensive work, the aim is to disturb the cultural company as little as possible. According to Tobias Kobe, the head of the cultural office, the game in Hall A is only paused for about two months in the summer months 2025 and 2026. The rest of the work between September 2025 and June 2026 and after the summer of 2026 are to be continued without significant interruptions of the event company. These measures ensure that the cultural factory is also preserved as an important socio -cultural center in the construction period.

Jürgen Ackermann, a representative of "Werk 2", describes the upcoming renovation as an important milestone for the cultural site. With the planned modernization measures, necessary infrastructural improvements are taken into account in order to ensure security and comfort for visitors. The conclusion of the renovations is planned by the end of 2026, which makes Work 2 fit for future generational cultural offers.
