Missile war in the Middle East: Israel and Iran in constant fire!

Today the Israeli military reported new rocket attacks from Iran. These attacks, which came in two waves within less than an hour, led to air alerts in several regions of Israel. The population was asked to follow military instructions while the Israeli military intensively tried to intercept the incoming missiles. Despite the alarming situation, citizens in the affected areas were allowed to leave the shelters after the attacks.

A rocket hit a parking lot in central Israel caused a fire, but fortunately no injuries were reported. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said its attacks targeted military bases from which more offensive operations against Iran were launched. According to authorities, the attacks will continue without interruption and in various forms. In the previous days, Iran had fired several volleys of rockets at Israel, which increased the current escalation of violence. Blick reports that 24 people have been killed and over 600 others injured in Israel since Friday.

Increasing escalation in attacks

According to information from ZDF, Israel and Iran are continuing their mutual missile attacks. Recent reports indicate that at least eight more people have been killed in Israel and the number of injured has risen to 92. The cities of Tel Aviv and Haifa were particularly affected by the attacks, which also hit residential buildings. This has brought the death toll in Israel to 23 since Friday. Defense Minister Israel Katz has threatened Iran with retaliation, calling the Iranian leader a “cowardly murderer.”

The motivation behind these military aggressions is Israel's desire to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear bomb. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently said that an overthrow of the Iranian regime was also possible. In another aggressive move, Israel is carrying out airstrikes on strategic targets in Iran, affecting not only military facilities but also nuclear and government facilities, including the oil ministry. It is reported that more than 224 people in Iran have lost their lives and nearly 1,300 have been injured since the Israeli offensive began. ZDF reports that the Israeli Air Force has already attacked dozens of targets in western Iran, where surface-to-surface missiles are stationed.

Consequences of the attacks

In a dramatic twist, the deaths of the head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards' intelligence service, Mohammed Kasem, and his deputy, Hassan Mohaghegh, have been confirmed. There is a state of emergency in Iran as a direct result of Israeli air strikes. In addition to military infrastructure, Israel is specifically attacking the uranium enrichment facility in Natans and possible damage to the facility has been reported. Israel is also attacking parts of the supply chain for the production of nuclear weapons. It is estimated that Iran could still have around 2,000 missiles at its disposal, while Israeli forces have gained air superiority from western Iran to Tehran.

The worsening situation in the Middle East highlights the unstable situation and gives rise to worrying scenarios for the region. The international response to these attacks and the humanitarian consequences remain pending.
