Accident in Plagwitz: 18-year-old slightly injured, police are looking for witnesses!

On Monday around 1:50 p.m. there was an accident at the Adler stop in Leipzig-Plagwitz in which an 18-year-old pedestrian was slightly injured. While crossing Zschochersche Strasse, he was hit by a gray Audi that was heading out of town. The pedestrian had to be taken to hospital to be treated for his injuries, while the vehicle sustained minor damage. The Leipzig police have entrusted the traffic accident service with investigating the accident. It remains particularly unclear whether the traffic light was green or red at the time of the accident. For this reason, the police are looking for witnesses who can provide information about the traffic lights or the accident itself. Any information is welcome by calling 0341 255 2850.

In another incident that occurred on December 12, 2025, a 38-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured in Leipzig-Schönefeld-Ost. She crossed Adenauerallee despite the red light and was hit by a 58-year-old driver of a Citroën Berlingo, who was probably driving towards Permoser Straße when the light was green. Here too, the pedestrian was treated as an inpatient in hospital. The traffic accident service has also started investigating the accident in this case.

Statistical classification of traffic accidents

The number of traffic accidents in Saxony shows a worrying trend. Statistics show that accidents in which people are injured or killed are classified according to their consequences. Accidents are divided into those with personal injury and those with property damage. Personal injuries include minor and serious injuries as well as fatalities. Serious accidents with property damage are often accidents that resulted in criminal or administrative offenses and in which at least one vehicle is no longer drivable. There were numerous such cases in Saxony in 2025, underlining the need for road safety measures. In order to take targeted measures, it is crucial to better understand these accidents and analyze their causes. Statistics show that the number of people injured in road traffic accidents is steadily increasing, highlighting the importance of road safety education.

The Leipzig police and the responsible authorities appeal to the public to be vigilant in traffic and to take responsibility in the event of accidents in order to ensure the safety of all road users.
