Leipzig in shock: 18-year-old arrested after brutal attacks!
In Leipzig, the police have arrested a suspected robber who is under strong suspicion of having committed several robberies. The 18-year-old man was temporarily arrested in his apartment after the Leipzig public prosecutor's office issued an arrest warrant against him. The suspicion includes particularly serious predatory extortion and dangerous bodily harm. During a search of his apartment, officers were able to seize stolen goods that had been stolen from the victims, such as LVZ reported.
According to police, the robberies took place at various locations in the east of Leipzig, including Crusiusstrasse, Eilenburger Strasse and Stephanieplatz in Reudnitz-Thonberg as well as Kohlweg and Rabet in Neustadt-Neuschönefeld. During the attacks, several people were attacked on the street and some were robbed. Some of the victims sustained injuries that required medical treatment, although there were no serious injuries. Perpetrator feedback about the attacks increased after several 911 calls were received on October 6 about two masked men on scooters.
Cooperation with the police
The police were only able to identify one suspicious person on site, who then fled. Another incident occurred when the 18-year-old was arrested: he tried to escape via the balcony of his apartment. As part of the investigation, a suspected accomplice, who is only 16 years old, is also being investigated. The suspect is now in custody while the investigation continues.
These incidents have not only increased in recent times. Another case concerns the public: more than two years ago there was an attempted robbery on Nordstrasse in which an 18-year-old victim fiercely resisted three suspected perpetrators. The incident ended tragically when one of the attackers, a 20-year-old, died as a result of his injuries. The defendants Joshua Z. and Julius L. were supposed to appear before the Leipzig regional court, but this was postponed due to health problems of one of the defendants. In this case, it was determined that the victim's actions were to be assessed as self-defense, and there was no initial suspicion against the remaining perpetrators, such as Leipzig internet newspaper reported.
Current events and rising crime highlight the issue of security in public spaces in Leipzig. The police are required not only to investigate the current case, but also to take preventive measures to prevent such incidents.
