Blitzmarathon on the A2: Where speeding is a threat today!

Today, June 4, 2025, there are speed checks on the A2 federal motorway. According to News.de, a speed camera location was located near Möckern in the district Jerichower Land, Saxony-Anhalt, reported. The mobile speed camera was active on June 4, 2025 at 6:46 p.m. Road users are urged to adhere to the speed limit.

The A2 motorway is one of the most important traffic axes in Germany and connects the Ruhr area with the Berliner Ring. Created in the 1930s, the total length of the A2 is 473 kilometers and it is part of the European Route 30 and European Route 34. This route is used by many drivers every day, and speeding often occurs. In order to counteract these violations, speed measurements have been set up in various sections of the A2.

Mobile and stationary speed cameras

There are currently eight stationary speed cameras installed on the A2 that record speeding on a daily basis. Mobile speed cameras are also used, the locations of which are variable and often change daily. This makes accurate prediction difficult for drivers. The Bussgeldkatalog emphasizes that some regions are particularly vulnerable to mobile speed cameras, even if detailed information on this is currently missing.

Drivers can expect a tolerance deduction for speeding: at speeds below 100 km/h, a flat rate deduction of 3 km/h is made. If the measured speed is over 100 km/h, a deduction of 3 percent of the speed is made.

The mobile radar devices that are used to measure speed are characterized by their quick and easy setup. They can be operated from vehicles or on tripods and use electromagnetic waves and light signals to measure speed.

The A2 therefore remains a central traffic route where speed controls represent a serious measure to increase traffic safety. Road users are well advised to stick to the posted speed limits to avoid unpleasant surprises.
