Lok Leipzig with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Babelsberg
On Friday evening, September 26th, 2025, Lok Leipzig welcomed SV Babelsberg 03 in their home stadium. In front of 5,077 spectators, Lok Leipzig won 1-0 and successfully defended their top spot in the Regionalliga Nordost. The clear main player of the evening was Dorian Cevis, who scored the decisive goal in the 18th minute.
The encounter started promisingly for the hosts. Jonas Arcalean scored a header goal in the second minute, but it was not counted due to an offside decision. However, this missed chance did not damage Lok Leipzig's self-confidence, and in the fifth minute Stefan Maderer was denied by Babelsberg goalkeeper Yannic Stein, who was able to fend off the ball in front of the line. On the other hand, Babelsberg showed some impressive actions, but failed to score.
Gameplay and key scenes
In the 18th minute, it was Dorian Cevis who, after a precise pass from Arcalean, put the ball into the net from close range, giving Lok Leipzig the lead. Babelsberg were lucky in the 30th minute when a possible penalty was not given after Alexander Siebeck fouled George Didoss. Nevertheless, they remained dangerous, including with a shot from Müller in the 28th minute that went just wide of the goal.
However, Lok Leipzig did not remain idle. In the 38th minute, Ayodele Adetula had the chance to score the second goal but was again blocked by Stein. We went into the locker room with a half-time score of 1-0.
Second half and outcome of the game
After the half-time break the pace slowed, but Babelsberg pushed for an equalizer. Maurice Covic had the best chance in the 56th minute, but was denied by the well-reacting keeper Andreas Naumann, who shone several times in this game. Didoss also tested Naumann with a powerful 24-meter shot that hit the post (83rd minute).
In the 75th minute, Babelsberg's coach Ermel was sent off with a red card, which further heated the mood on the bench. Despite their efforts, the guests were unable to equalize. Lok Leipzig defended its 1-0 lead until the final whistle and celebrated its eighth win in a row.
After a supposedly less dramatic twenty minutes in the second half, Lok Leipzig was able to safely bring the game home. The next game for Leipzig is against Carl Zeiss Jena on Wednesday, while Babelsberg hosts Hertha Zehlendorf next weekend.
For Lok Leipzig, the victory was not only important for the league lead, but also shows a consistently strong performance this season. The team remains at the top in the long-distance duel with Rot-Weiß Erfurt, who are also looking for points. The whole evening underlined the strength of Lok Leipzig, who performed impressively in front of their home crowd.
