Wave Gothic meeting 2025: Leipzig celebrates with costumed highlights!
The Wave Gotics Meeting (WGT), one of the largest meetings of the Gothic and Wave scene, is just around the corner and is celebrated in Leipzig from June 6th to 9th, 2025. Visitors already shape the cityscape in elaborate outfits, while the preparations for the versatile program are developing. There are also numerous events and activities for those who do not have a festival ticket. As reports MDR, this is an excellent opportunity to experience the special atmosphere of the series of events.
The highlights include the Victorian picnic in the Clara-Zetkin-Park on Friday, June 6th, from 3 p.m., where guests can bring their own food and drinks. This popular event attracts people in historical wardrobe. The corpse car body on Saturday, June 7th, starts at 11 a.m. in the Clara-Zetkin-Park and leads to the southern cemetery. Over 20 corpse cars from different eras will be shown, and admission is also free of charge.
diverse music program and events
The musical offers of the WGT are diverse and cover a wide range. The Gothic Pogo Festival will take place in the "Werk 2" cultural factory from Thursday, June 5th to Monday, June 9, 2025. International live acts and DJ nights are celebrated here. Admission to a 5-day ticket is 58 euros, and a price of 10 to 18 euros is required at the box office. Wave-Gotik-Meeting in particular emphasizes the diverse artists, including well-known names from Germany and international acts such as Long Tall Texans and Ships in the night.
Another highlight are the two medieval markets at the event. These take place at the Moritzbastei and the Torhaus Dölitz and offer a varied ambience with stands for traditional craftsmanship, food and drinks. The known acts that will occur are also Corvus Corax and Faun.
cultural enrichments and guided tours
In addition to the music program, festival goers can experience numerous cultural events. Theater performances, art exhibitions and readings are also on the program. In museums and exhibitions, WGT visitors are offered free access to special tours, including the Grassi Museum of Applied Arts, where free tours and lectures are offered.
A city tour entitled "Corpse, Leprosy, Lepa, Lucifer" About the old Johanniskfriedhof also offers an exciting view of the history of the city. This takes about 90 minutes and is available for 18 euros, or reduced 16 euros. However, prior registration is required.
The Wave Gotik meeting not only offers numerous musical and artistic highlights, but also the opportunity to experience the city of Leipzig in a special way-and all of this in a unique, festive atmosphere that is dedicated to the Gothic and Wave fans. Visitors can look forward to an unforgettable time.
