Travemünde Week 2025: Sailing spectacle and family celebration on the beach!

The traditional “Travemünde Week” is just around the corner and is celebrating its 136th edition this year. From July 18 to 27, 2025, the event, which originally emerged from a competition between Hermann Wentzel and Hermann Dröge in 1889, will attract visitors with an extensive program of sports and festival highlights. Lübeck's mayor Jan Lindenau will officially open the event on July 18th at 6:00 p.m., followed by Prime Minister Daniel Günther, who will give the starting signal for the first race of the long-distance regatta Rund Fehmarn. Nearly 800 sailors and around 1 million visitors are expected to attend this popular event, which appeals to both athletes and families.

The event is not only characterized by exciting sailing regattas, but also offers a variety of attractions. Brügmanngarten has music, food and children's entertainment, while Strandallee offers northern German cuisine and great views of the beach. The Holsten Beach Arena provides evening entertainment with concerts and the Tornado meadow with a Ferris wheel. The daily racing on the Trave sailing arena is the focus of the event.

Sporting highlights of the Travemünde Week

The regatta program is diverse and will include some top-class competitions. These include the European Topcat K1 Championship as well as international championships for various boat classes. The highlights include:

  • 21.-26. Juli 2025: World Cup und EM Topcat K1
  • 19.-21. Juli 2025: German Open J/22
  • 20./21. Juli 2025: NDM Dyas
  • 18./19. Juli 2025: Langstrecke (Rund Fehmarn)

These competitions will be supplemented by the traditional highlight, the “Passat Laser Performance”, as well as a final fireworks display on July 27, 2025, although approval is still pending.

A festival for the whole family

The festival program features two large stages, a large screen and numerous dining and shopping options. A special focus is on family-friendliness, with a planned children's and family day on which special sustainability campaigns will also be carried out. These include training for children and traveling exhibitions on environmentally friendly topics, which will be implemented more intensively this year.

36 supporters are involved in accompanying and supporting the event, including the main sponsors boot and König Pilsener. Despite lower registration numbers this year due to financial adjustments, the organizers are planning optimistically.

The fun is rounded off by the “Seven Towers SUP Race” on July 19, 2025, which has been added to the program as a new highlight. Daily illumination of the Passat at 8:00 p.m. will also create a festive atmosphere.

The “Travemünde Week” promises to be a festival for the whole family that will captivate both athletes and spectators. Those interested can find details about the competitions and other events in the Travemünder Woche program.

There is great anticipation for the event - we can't wait to see how it develops!
