Travemünder week 2025: sailing fun, spectacle and exciting competitions!

Travemünde, Deutschland - On July 18, 2025, the Travemünder Week was ceremoniously opened. Lübeck's Mayor Jan Lindenau (SPD) gave the command "Sometows Flag" and thus heralded the start of one of the largest sailing events in Germany. Schleswig-Holstein's Prime Minister Daniel Günther (CDU) gave the signal for the first race, the long-awaited long-distance regatta "Round Fehmarn". Visitors can look forward to an exciting program by July 27th.

The Travemünder Week combines sailing and a varied festival that inspires both active and spectators. This year, around 770 participants take part in the competitions in 350 boats. Three international championships and five German title fights are planned, which underline the high sporting quality of the event. An integral part of the regatta week is the race for the Rotpon Cup, which has developed into a real highlight.

Visitors have the opportunity to experience the in-house and dinghy in the Trave up close. Investments at the Priwall, Grünstrand and Mövenstein offer the perfect vantage point. The trave races that take place every day at 5 p.m. guarantee exciting competitions on a short but spectacular course. These races can be viewed from the Travepromenade, so that the spectators can follow the competition up close and be informed by comment teams.

A special attraction this year is the Volksbank Rotpon Cup, in which Lübeck Mayor Jan Lindenau competes against his political colleague Reinhard Meyer, Minister of Economics, Infrastructure, Tourism and Work by Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The race promises competitive spirit and an entertaining afternoon, whereby to win a magnum bottle of Rotspon and above all the honor of the winning trophy.

The event week ends on July 27 at 10:45 p.m. with a large fireworks display that will inspire the crowd. In addition to the regattas, visitors also experience a diverse supporting program that makes Travemünder Woche an unforgettable experience.
