Summer cinema and theater
The summer cinema in Leipzig is particularly noteworthy. Films will be shown at Scheibenholz from July 9th to August 17th, 2025, while other locations such as the delicatessen and the Luru cinema also offer program items. The latter will be available to enjoy from June 12th to August 31st.

The Summer Theater Festival in Leipzig also promises exciting entertainment. From June 22nd to August 31st, 2025, plays like “Columbo: When Called – Murder!” and “The Little Prince”. The play “Everything will be different, everything will be fine” will be performed in the open-air theater in Halle from July 2nd to August 29th, 2025, accompanied by musical events on the WUK theater ship.
Cultural experiences and cool places
The museums in Leipzig and Halle are popular places to escape the summer heat. The Leipzig Contemporary History Forum has opened the exhibition “Across the Fence – Gardens and People” until January 31, 2027. Entry is free. The Moritzburg Art Museum in Halle is showing the special exhibition “Planetary Farmers” until September 14, 2025. Entry here costs 15 euros and 10 euros reduced.
Cool retreats are numerous: We recommend the Battle of the Nations Monument, the Gnandstein and Kriebstein castles as well as numerous churches such as the Nikolaikirche and Thomaskirche in Leipzig and the cathedral in Halle.
