Pfullingen triumphs in the last game and beats Young Boys 2-1!
On June 6, 2025, the season in the Württemberg Association League ended for VfL Pfullingen with an emotional game against Young Boys Reutlingen. Despite already being relegated, Pfullingen fought for a 2-1 win, which represents a reconciliatory end to a difficult season for the team. The Young Boys, on the other hand, still had their sights set on staying in the league and started the encounter optimistically.
In the first half it was the Young Boys who dominated the game. Hakan Aktepe made it 1-0 in the 41st minute and gave the visitors a half-time lead. But VfL didn't let that discourage them and came out of the locker room with renewed vigor.
Turning point in the second half
The second half brought the big comeback for Pfullingen. In the 73rd minute, Philipp Kendel equalized and heralded the turnaround. Head coach Albert Lennerth's team, who wanted to show the spectators what progress they had made during the second half of the season, stayed on the ball. The highlight came in the 89th minute when Christian Locher scored the winning goal for Pfullingen. Department head Marcel Laaß was satisfied with staying in the league and the performance shown throughout the season. Drama at the bottom of the table
While Pfullingen celebrated, other teams faced major challenges. TSG Tübingen could slip into relegation with a defeat. Türkspor Neckarsulm were crowned champions and played without pressure in the last game. Heimerdingen had already had to be relegated and TSV Berg only needed one point to stay in the league.
The games in the last round were of enormous importance as several teams were in a relegation battle. FC Esslingen had to win to secure relegation, while Sportfreunde Dorfmerkingen and TSG Balingen II fought to stay in the league. The referee of the game between Pfullingen and the Young Boys, Lauritz-Philipe Hafner, was supported by Luca Bredow and Maximilian Ruoff.
