Landsberg mourns the CAP market: closure after 18 years!
The city of Landsberg am Lech has to say goodbye to an important part of its local supply. The CAP market on Katharinenstraße, operated by Regens Wagner Holzhausen, will close on August 31, 2025 after 18 years. This decision, which affects the municipality and customers alike, was recently communicated and the city regrets the impending closure.
Mayor Doris Baumgartl announced that the city was informed of the closure at short notice. A crucial conversation between the representatives of Regens Wagner Holzhausen and the owners had taken place just a few days before the announcement. In addition to the mayor, her two deputies as well as the public order office and the economic development department took part in the meeting. The city offered a willingness to talk and support in order to find suitable solutions for local supplies in the city center.
Reasons for closure
Regens Wagner Holzhausen explained that the closure had become necessary due to increased operating costs. Matthias Albrecht, who is in overall management of the company, expressed his regret about this development and thanked his loyal customers. In the past, the CAP market has fulfilled an important supply function for the entire city center and adjacent residential areas, especially for seniors in assisted living.
The CAP market currently employs nine people with intellectual disabilities, who will find new jobs in the workshop for disabled people (WfbM) in Holzhausen, in the CAP market in Penzing and in the farm shop. In addition, eleven full- and part-time employees receive job offers from Regens Wagner Holzhausen to support them in their professional reorientation.
Future of local supply
The city of Landsberg has already started looking for solutions to ensure local supplies at the location. The mayor emphasized that the existing market fills an essential supply gap and that serious work is being done to find a viable solution.
The closure of the CAP market marks the end of an era. This is not only a loss for customers, but also for employees who rely on nearby supplies. The public discussion about the closure is therefore in full swing and the hope remains that a solution can be found to continue to meet the needs of citizens.
