Mood of crisis at FC Holzhausen: Karsten Maier draws conclusions!

FC Holzhausen is going through turbulent times. After an eventful season in which the club finished seventh in the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg, the collaboration with sporting director and head coach Karsten Maier was ended by mutual agreement. This decision was made after the last matchday of the 2024/2025 season, as Schwarzwälder Bote reported.

Karsten Maier took over the head coach position just ten days after his appointment as sporting director in October 2023. Despite initial hopes for a successful collaboration, there were soon problems that ultimately led to a separation. Maier pointed out a lack of support and loud individual voices within the club. These internal conflicts visibly affected the work and the atmosphere in the team.

Coach changes and challenges

The latest development is part of an even more hectic phase at FC Holzhausen, which began with the resignation of Benjamin Maier, who surprisingly resigned from his position after a 3-3 draw against SV Oberachern. He cited personal and time-related reasons for his resignation. This was not the first coaching change in the current season after the departure of Pascal Reinhardt, the promotion coach, who moved to SG Sonnenhof Großaspach. After the short engagement of Mario Estasi, who was fired as coach and sporting director after just 12 days, Benjamin Maier took over on an interim basis, but was only able to score 5 points in 11 games, as Kicker reports.

Karsten Maier is now returning to the league as a coach after more than ten years and plans to look for a coach during the winter break. He places a clear focus on the defense. His goal is to keep the team compact and attacking. Despite the challenge, striker Janik Michel has established himself as a beacon of hope, even if he has struggled with injury problems this season. Nevertheless, he scored half of the total 14 goals this season so far.

Looking into the future

The next game is against fifth-placed 1. CfR Pforzheim. The situation at FC Holzhausen remains tense and it remains to be seen how the team will develop under the leadership of Karsten Maier. The fans and the club management hope for a stabilization of the situation and a positive turn in the current season.
