District league draw: Holzhausen challenges Preußen Espelkamp in the quarter-finals!

The eagerly awaited draw for the women's district leagues took place on Monday, August 4, 2025. The event, which was part of the relay day in Hüllhorst, attracted numerous participants from the region. In particular, the new relay leader Marissa Steinkamp was the focus of the draw, which was led by district chairman Karl-Heinz Eikenhorst. The teams and spectators present were excited about the upcoming encounters, especially about SC Holzhausen's demand to be able to play against Preußen Espelkamp in the quarter-finals Westfalen-Blatt reports.

However, the relay day not only offered the draw, but also various honors and sporting topics that were covered as part of the program. The Westphalia Football and Athletics Association (FLVW) honored the fairest teams. In the Westfalenliga, Borussia Dortmund and SV Germania Hauenhorst were honored as the fairest teams for their identical fairness quotient. Both teams received certificates and cash rewards, which were presented by representatives of the association, as reported by FLVW.

Honors and awards

Overall, the three fairest teams in the IGA 2027 state league were also honored. SC Borchen (Season 1), VfL Bochum II (Season 2) and SV Borussia Emsdetten (Season 3) received special recognition in this category. Christoph Wüllner, head of communications at IGA 2027, was also present and provided information about the cooperation with the FLVW. In addition, Larissa Struck, the long-time official of the FLVW and cup match director of the Westphalia Cup for women, was awarded the association's silver medal of honor. This honor was presented by FLVW Vice President Marianne Finke-Holtz.

The event at the SportCentrum Kaiserau once again confirmed the importance of fairness in women's sports and the FLVW's efforts to highlight such positive examples. There is great anticipation for the new season and the upcoming cup games, and the teams are motivated to prove their capabilities.
