Young heroes from Porta Westfalica shine at the national competition!
On Saturday, June 14, 2025, the national competition for youth fire departments in the Minden-Lübbecke district took place in Petershagen-Lahde. In mid-summer temperatures, a total of 15 groups from seven different youth fire departments took part, including two groups from Porta Westfalica. The event once again shows the commitment of the youth fire brigades to further training and competing in fire-fighting disciplines. The competition included two main disciplines: the A part, a firefighting attack, and the B part, a relay race over 400 meters, as kjf-gg.de reports.
In part A, the participants had to use a water intake point with open water. This involved operating three C-pipes and carrying out four fire brigade nodes. Criteria such as speed and precision were crucial for the evaluation. At the same time, various exercises such as rolling hoses and quickly putting on firefighting clothing took place in part B, where the participants' speed and accuracy were crucial.

The groups from Porta Westfalica, which come from the districts of Holzhausen and Nammen, showed outstanding performances. The Holzhausen group was able to enjoy a strong second and third place, while the Stemwede Haldem-Arrenkamp youth fire department took first place. The Nammen group landed in fourth and ninth place at the district level. It is noteworthy that all participants delivered impressive performances after intensive training sessions.
