Mercedes-Benz invests millions: New jobs and expansion in Jawor!

Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Poland is planning a major expansion in Jawor, Lower Silesia, which will not only increase production capacity but could also create hundreds of new jobs. The plan is to build a new production and storage hall, which is part of a larger plan to strengthen the automotive industry in the region. This reports Poland Journal.

Since 2017, Mercedes-Benz has operated a plant in the Wałbrzych special economic zone that specializes in the production of four-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines as well as batteries for passenger cars. This factory, about 70 kilometers from Wrocław, already has over 1,000 employees and plays a strategic role in the company's global production plans.

Expansion details

Astoria S.A. and Panattoni BTS have already signed a letter of intent that includes the construction of a new production and warehouse hall as well as the necessary technical infrastructure. In addition, a connecting corridor will be built between the existing buildings. The total construction cost of this project is 25.67 million euros, and the total amount of investments in Jawor exceeds 600 million euros.

The new construction areas cover 46 hectares, which were acquired by Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Poland from Wałbrzyszka Specjalna Strefa Ekonomiczna “INVEST-PARK”. These include 11.3 hectares in the municipality of Jawor and 34.8 hectares in the municipality of Męcinka. These areas will be used to create a modern industrial park that promotes automation of production and innovative standards.

influence on the region

The investment will not only increase production in the region, but also have positive effects for local suppliers and the service sector. The Ministry of Development and Technology highlights the importance of this investment as it not only strengthens the local economy but also promotes the development of modern technologies in the automotive industry.

One aspect of this expansion is the planned production of light delivery vehicles that will be based on the VAN.EA electrical architecture. From 2026, Mercedes-Benz will introduce live standards in production and focus on electromobility. Francesco Ciancia, Head of Mercedes-Benz Vans Operations, emphasizes how important this transformation is for efficiency and future mobility.

Market development in the automotive industry

The Polish economy is benefiting from growing demand in the vehicle industry. Loud GTAI In 2024, first registrations of cars increased by 16.1% compared to the previous year. The positive market development is promoted, among other things, by a stable labor market and increasing prosperity.

However, there are differences between the different vehicle segments. While the premium segment, which also includes Mercedes-Benz, is growing particularly strongly, there were declines in the commercial vehicle sector. Nevertheless, the market remains fluid, with healthy growth in the light commercial vehicle sector, supported by the increase in online orders.

Mercedes-Benz's planned investments in Jawor not only constitute a significant contribution to the local and national economy, but also send a strong signal for the change in automobile production towards more sustainability and modernity in Poland.
