Halle and Leipzig: together strong for culture and economy!
Leipzig, Deutschland - On June 16, 2025, Halle's Mayor Dr. Alexander Vogt announced that the cities of Halle (Saale) and Leipzig are planning a stronger cooperation. This initiative aims to expand existing contacts and to cooperate more intensively both on an economic and cultural level. Dr. Vogt described Leipzig as the "sister city" of Halle and emphasized the importance of this relationship for both cities.
The cooperation includes plans for promoting commercial settlements and the development of common cultural events. The cultural connection is currently limited to the common museum night, but the city councilors strive for a wider range of projects. Dr. Vogt also emphasized the international thinking of Leipzig's mayor Burkhard Jung, which contributed significantly to the positive development of the city.
common population and region
The region, the Halle and Leipzig as well as the surrounding districts of Leipzig and Saalekreis, are home to a total of around 1.3 million inhabitants. In this way, it forms the largest metropolitan area in East Germany to Berlin. This demographic strength could be used as an impetus for ambitious cooperative projects.
The first concrete measure of the desired cooperation will be a community conference that should take place after the summer. This conference is intended to set the course for future projects and deepen the exchange between the two cities. A second visit to Dr. Vogt in Leipzig has already been agreed to continue the dialogue.
venues for creative projects
While large plans are made in Halle and Leipzig, the Werk 2 in Leipzig offers varied rooms for company events and other events. The large hall A should be emphasized, since it offers a capacity of up to 1,200 people and can be used ideal for various event formats, from congresses to company celebrations. With flexible room layout and optional decorative variants, individual concepts can be developed here.
In addition, the work 2 project management, catering and the decoration of the events can take over. The smaller hall D, which was reopened after its renovation in September 2010, also offers an attractive event area of 300 sqm with a modern, disabled -friendly atmosphere for up to 300 people.
The plans for cooperation between Halle and Leipzig as well as the versatile events in Werk 2 reflect the dynamic development of the region, which wants to develop steadily. Cooperation will promote both local and regional dimensions and could lead to positive impulses for culture and business in both cities
