Three German records ratified: athletes celebrate record hunt!

On July 1, 2025, a significant step was taken in German athletics. Three new records were ratified and included in the official DLV record lists. This was from the website of the German Athletics Association athletics.de reported. The indoor record in the 1,500 meter run was set by Robert Farken, athlete from SG Motor Gohlis-Nord Leipzig, with a time of 3:33.14 minutes. This happened at the Millrose Games in New York, where he presented himself in first-class form.

In addition, the record in the indoor heptathlon was confirmed by Till Steinforth from SV Halle with 6,388 points. Likewise, Amanal Petros from Hannover 96 broke the previous half marathon record by running a time of 59:31 minutes in the Berlin Half Marathon. These achievements show the growing strength and competitiveness of German athletes on the international stage.

Other notable achievements

However, the sporting events are not just limited to the German records. At the Jamaican Championships, hurdler Megan Tapper achieved a best time of 12.34 seconds in the 100 meter hurdles. Her compatriot Ackera Nugent followed closely with a time of 12.41 seconds. In the male competition, Orlando Bennett was able to achieve a clear victory with 13.10 seconds.

At the same time, pole vaulter Katie Moon impressed at the “Born to Run Invite” in Chula Vista, California, clearing 4.83 meters. No female athlete has achieved higher jumps anywhere in the world this outdoor season. In the sprint race, Celera Barnes clocked 10.79 seconds over 100 meters, supported by a tailwind of +2.5 m/s.

Sporting events and initiatives

The Saxon Sports Minister Armin Schuster expressed his anticipation of “The Finals”, which will take place in Dresden from July 31st to August 3rd. At this event, 133 German championship titles are awarded, which is of great importance for sport, business, tourism and culture.

In addition, the Berlin State Sports Association (LSB) has launched a popular initiative to support Berlin's Olympic bid. Starting next Wednesday, a signature collection process will be initiated in which 20,000 eligible voters must signal their support within six months. President Thomas Härtel is confident that the people of Berlin will support this initiative.

Current developments in the anti-doping area

As part of its efforts to ensure fair sport, the DLV has published a new anti-doping newsletter. This contains important information about the use of cannabis and hemp products in sport as well as the TUE navigator from the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA).

Developments in German sport are promising and show a strong commitment to outstanding performance and integrity in competition. These records and sporting initiatives could pave the way for an even more successful future for German athletics.
