Lightning alarm in Leipzig: These 5 streets are affected today!
On September 15, 2025, an extensive mobile radar control will be carried out in Leipzig. Speed measurements are planned at a total of five locations in order to improve traffic safety and punish speeding violations. In this cooperation, the police will monitor compliance with the maximum speed limit and draw attention to road safety in dangerous places.
The speed camera locations include the following streets:

Goal of the speed controls
The reason for these controls is that speeding is a common cause of traffic accidents. The article highlights that the police continuously monitor road traffic. The measures introduced are aimed at ensuring greater safety on the roads and reducing the number of accidents.
The type of speed controls differ between mobile and stationary methods. Information from Bussgeldkatalog.org shows that controls often take place at danger spots, such as busy intersections, in order to raise the awareness of road users.
Fines and penalties
Road users who violate the set speed limits must expect severe penalties. These vary depending on the severity of the violation, both within and outside of town. The following penalties can be imposed in urban areas:
| Exceedance (km/h) | Fine (€) |
|---|---|
| until 10 | 30 |
| 11 – 15 | 50 |
| 16 – 20 | 70 |
| 21 – 25 | 115 (1 point) |
| 26 – 30 | 180 (1 month driving ban) |
| 31 – 40 | 260 (1 month driving ban) |
| 41 – 50 | 400 (1 month driving ban) |
| 51 – 60 | 560 (2 months driving ban) |
| 61 – 70 | 700 (3 months driving ban) |
| over 70 | 800 (3 months driving ban) |
The tolerance limits for speed measurements are between 3 km/h and 3% of the measured speed, depending on the speed. This makes precise adherence to speed limits essential for all road users.
In view of this information, every driver is called upon to stick to the specified limits and thus actively contribute to road safety in Leipzig. The goal remains clear: fewer accidents and safer road traffic for everyone.
