A 38-year-old man from Bulgaria caused a stir in Zittau on August 6, 2025 when he entered Germany from Poland in his car. During a federal police check on the B 178n, the officers came across a huge amount of illegal cigarettes: almost eight cartons, a total of 680 cigarettes, hidden in three cartons and nine boxes without a tax stamp!
The customs officials reacted immediately and confiscated the tobacco products. The Bulgarian is now facing criminal charges for tax evasion. Another example of cross-border cigarette smugglers getting caught!
