Federal police inspectors have dramatically caught a fugitive Polish citizen who was arrested in Görlitz with a cut-up ID card and illegal silver coins. The incident happened around 12:20 yesterday when the man tried to hide from border controls and conceal his identity. A check revealed that he had been banned from entering Germany since 2022 and was staying in Germany illegally.
The suspect was visibly upset when officers confronted him on suspicion of unauthorized entry and stay. During the arrest he behaved aggressively and tried to evade police action. A drug test revealed that he was under the influence of amphetamines. Whether the silver coins found on him came from a crime remains the subject of further investigation. After his arrest, the man was handed over to the state police and ultimately deported back to Poland.
