On August 11, 2025, the Dresden fire department fought a fire in a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter on the BAB 17. Fortunately, the occupants remained uninjured.

In the early morning of August 11, 2025, around 4:14 a.m., a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter burst into flames on the BAB 17 near the Gorbitz junction. The fire threatened to spread to the surrounding vegetation. The Dresden fire department was quickly on the scene and deployed two respiratory protection teams who fought the flames with two jet pipes, water and extinguishing foam.
Fortunately, the three occupants of the vehicle were able to escape in time and were uninjured. It is currently unclear how the fire started. The fire department was able to quickly bring the fire under control and prevent major damage.
