Human trafficking shock: 87 refugees smuggled to Germany in mobile homes!

A 40-year-old Azerbaijani man is suspected of being involved in a ruthless people smuggling ring. In the months of August and September 2024, he and his accomplices are said to have illegally smuggled at least 87 migrants from Croatia to Germany and Italy. According to the Görlitz public prosecutor's office, he rented mobile homes and hired drivers who carried out the dangerous transports for a fee.

The hiding migrants, including women and children, were forced to hide in the campers and were unable to leave the vehicle during the long journeys, even to relieve themselves. In some cases, the refugees were accommodated in groups of up to 23 people and had to travel for hours without security. Particularly alarming: two of these transports crossed the German-Czech border into Saxony, where the migrants were dropped off in the Bautzen area.
