Border controls in Ludwigsdorf: 14 people caught without entry permits!
On January 22, 2026, the Federal Police made a remarkable discovery during border controls at various crossings in Ludwigsdorf and Görlitz: a total of 14 people did not meet the entry requirements. The vast majority of those affected were of Ukrainian and Russian origin, including one national each from Somalia and Morocco.
Although two of the Russian citizens had valid Polish residence permits, officials already had concerns about their intention to travel. Therefore they were also sent back to Poland. The Somali citizen, on the other hand, only had a national residence permit, which did not allow him to travel to other Schengen countries. After a criminal complaint for unauthorized entry, his document was confiscated and he was forwarded to the responsible immigration authority.
