Border control in Görlitz: Polish convict behind bars again!
On Saturday afternoon, a 47-year-old Pole was arrested at a border check on the motorway after apparently ignoring an arrest warrant. This was issued against him a few weeks ago by the Görlitz public prosecutor's office, based on a verdict by the Dresden district court for dangerous bodily harm. The man had failed to pay a fine of 4,630 euros and is now facing a substitute prison sentence while he sits in prison.
Also on Sunday evening, another Pole was detained in Bad Muskau, who also faced legal consequences. He had to pay a fine of 1,200 euros plus procedural costs of 81 euros after he was convicted of driving without a license two years ago. Because he failed to pay, the Trier public prosecutor issued an arrest warrant against him, which led to his arrest before he could continue his journey.
