A serious traffic accident occurred yesterday at noon on the B87 near Gordemitz. A 78-year-old driver, who was driving his VW Phaeton, crossed into oncoming traffic for unknown reasons and collided head-on with a Volvo XC40 that was being driven by a 62-year-old woman. Both people involved had to be taken to hospital with injuries.
The force of the impact was enormous. Both vehicles are now completely broken and have been towed away. The material damage is estimated at around 50,000 euros. The Traffic Accident Service has begun an investigation into the incident, including an investigation into negligent bodily harm.
