A 41-year-old Ukrainian driver almost lost control of his VW Passat in a shocking accident on federal highway 176 at night - and with a blood alcohol level of almost 3 per thousand! The man raced through a roundabout, overturned and ended up on his side, about 8 meters away. How dramatic! Despite the severity of the incident, he only sustained minor injuries.
Alerted by an automatic emergency call (eCall) that was triggered during the accident, officers on site found an extremely uncooperative driver who stubbornly refused to seek medical attention. It was only at the urging of the emergency doctor that he was taken to the hospital while his blood was taken in the ambulance. The total damage to the vehicle is around 12,000 euros, and the road was also damaged. Police are now investigating charges of endangering road traffic - another shocking incident on our roads!
