Dresden in action: derailed tram back on track in a flash!
On August 4, 2025, at around 1:58 p.m., a tram derailed at Dreyssigplatz in Mickten. Alarmed, rescue workers from the Albertstadt fire and rescue station rushed to the scene of the accident. Under the direction of a specialist consultant from the Dresden transport company, the emergency services developed a precise strategy to bring the derailed train safely back onto the track.
The specialists raised the tram using a hydraulic jack and a sliding bridge. Turnbuckles were used to prevent kinks and twists. Thanks to their experience and skill, the team managed to reinstall the tram with millimeter precision in just two hours. No one was injured and after the successful rescue the tram was able to continue its journey. The measures led to a partial closure of Dreyßigplatz, but this was quickly remedied.
