In a dramatic nighttime chase, three men tried to break into a cigarette machine at the intersection of Knautnaundorfer Straße and Morgenstraße. A witness alerted the police around midnight, who immediately noticed that the suspects had fled when they arrived. A 31-year-old Georgian was quickly caught in nearby bushes, while the other two - aged 23 and 32 - fled across a parking lot and jumped into a pond.
The police and rescue workers surrounded the pond, where the men finally emerged from the water after a long time. All three were processed for identification purposes, but were released after police measures. The cigarette machine remained untouched, although the damage to the property is still unknown. The police have started an investigation into a particularly serious theft.
