In the early morning of October 10, 2025, a fire broke out in a high-rise residential building on Rathener Straße in Großzschachwitz. Around 40 emergency services from the Albertstadt, Übigau, Striesen and Altstadt fire and rescue stations as well as several rescue stations were quickly on site to fight the flames. The fire brigade was on duty from 5:58 a.m. and was able to quickly bring the situation under control.
The police have now started an investigation into the cause of the fire. Further details are not yet known, but the fire department's operation will be reported as over shortly
